Jack Wolfskin 14th Peak Jacket Mens $392.83
With its dynamic design and superb breathability, the 14th PEAK combines the two mountain-tested apparel concepts – soft shell and hard shell – in a single, highly functional alpine double jacket that is both robust and light and delivers outstanding breathability performance.
The inner jacket is a premium quality soft shell tailored from extremely breathable, kinetic stretch FLEX SHIELD and is conceived for wear as a stand-alone shell on strenuous ascents. Its microfleece reverse side offers basic insulation, while the outer surface is virtually windproof and shrugs off light rain. In more extreme weather conditions, or when a little more warmth is needed, the shell jacket can be added. This consists of two very waterproof and breathable TEXAPORE O2 fabrics, which are also robust enough to withstand the chafing effect of rucksack straps and contact with rough rock. A detachable storm hood with wide chin flaps completes the weatherproof spec.

Pockets Sleeve Pocket
Convertible Storm Hood A detachable storm hood. Volume and field of vision can be individually adjusted using draw cords. The user has the choice between full-bore weather protection with closed chin guard or a wider field of vision.
The chin guard stows away neatly into the flap garage at the side of the hood. The hood also features a reinforced peak for extra protection. It can also be completely adjusted with one hand, even when gloved up.
Acrobat Cut This particular fit allows for optimum freedom of movement. Ideal for outdoor sports like climbing and snowboarding.
ACROBAT CUT in jackets:
The section of the jacket where the sleeve meets the body is generously tailored to allow the arms to be raised above the head without the hem of the jacket riding up.
ACROBAT CUT in trousers:
An additional section of material (gusset) in the crotch area improves comfort and freedom of movement.
Water Resistant Zips
Short System Zip The SHORT SYSTEM ZIP is used in 3-in-1 jackets to connect inner and shell jackets. It is incorporated into JACK WOLFSKIN's blouson style 3-in-1 jackets and on our hiking jackets in particular.
Other fleece or insulated inner jackets can be combined with the system zip to be used as a 3-in-1 jacket.
Hood Pocket A special inner pocket in the jacket, in which the detached hood can be securely stowed. The pocket has a Velcro closure tab.
Secret Pocket A flat ‘secret’ pocket is often integrated into JACK WOLFSKIN apparel.
There are different types of pocket for different clothing. Many of our weather protection jackets are fitted with a SECRET POCKET.
This special inside pocket lies protected from weather inside the jacket, but accessible from the outside at chest height via the double cover over the front zip.
The pocket is often called a ‘Napoleon pocket’ as using it resembles the French general's famous gesture. A flat format SECRET POCKET is integrated into the side seam or pocket on skirts or trousers for keys or coins. At least half of the opening is covered by the pocket in front of it
Articulated Elbows A detail on our jackets and shirts. The elbow section is anatomically tailored to conform to the natural biomechanics of the elbow, significantly improving freedom of movement.
A soft and supple polyester taffeta fabric with an all-over logo print, used as a jacket lining material.
A highly abrasion resistant yet lightweight 2-ply TEXAPORE laminate with a "nail head" surface structure that prevents large scale mechanical abrasion. This waterproof, high breathability material is used to reinforce critical wear points like shoulders, waist and sleeves on our alpine jackets. Waterproof spec: 20000mm water column; MVTR (breathability rating): 15000g/m²/24h.
A light, high tearstrength Texapore O2 material, developed specifically for use in our technical alpine jackets. The special feature here is the shell fabric, which has paired reinforcement threads woven into it. The ripstop construction gives this comparatively lightweight (125g/m²) material an exceptionally high tearstrength, while the DWR (durably water repellent) finish shrugs off water. The fabric has a matt look and a supple, textile finish. Texapore O2 Double Rip has a PU hybrid membrane on the reverse side which delivers a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm hydrostatic head and a moisture vapour transmission rate of 20,000 g/m2/24 h (grams per square metre per 24 hours).
A very abrasion resistant polyurethane material, durably laminated to the support fabric.
Used at critical wear points like pocket lips and external pocket edges on weatherproof jackets, soft shells and trousers. Readily accepts an external tape seam seal.
A highly breathable polyamide fabric with a mesh structure. Used mainly as a lining material in our weather protection jackets.
Perspiration passes easily through the mesh and is wicked away from the body through the weather protection layer.
A virtually windproof, highly breathable SOFTSHELL laminate.
The outer layer is made of a permanently water and dirt-repellent polyester fabric.
The inside layer, which comprises a polyester microfleece with weight-saving "waffle" structure, regulates the transportation of moisture and offers gentle heat retention.

A rugged and durable jacket that meets all expectations for the perfect downhill ski jack I was looking for. Provides exceptional warmth and comfort under the harshest wind and cold conditions while being the lightest dual layered jacket I've ever owned.
